Day 2 24 May.
The second day from Fort Worth to Wichita was a drive along a storm front. The 10:00 departure was under grey 80% overcast skies according to the NOAA map. By Noon and Ardmore OK. it had started to rain. Not very hard but enough to discourage any side trips in response to interesting signs Indian Museums and Casinos mostly)
Shortly after leaving Ardmore the down pours started. See the windshield pics (TBP).
By 14:00 I ran out of the down pours and was on the back
side of the Front. Outside temps dropped
down to 61/63 from 76 just before
In Wichita I found that the Acura Navigator was a little out of date. My motel was in an area of town where the navigator only had a couple of main routes. Any thing off of it was “Entering Unverified area”. It would not even guess at the address. When I keyed it in it stopped accepting numbers after the 3rd digit. Interestingly when I found the motel and asked the Navigator to save current position it came up with the correct address. Later in the evening when I wanted to come back to the motel the Navigator had no problem coming up with the correct route.
There has been some interesting revitalization in downtown
Acura Report: A
slight improvement to 27 mpg. The “miles
to empty” was under 20 when I made a desperation stop for gas and paid $3.50 a
gallon. The actual average price for the
Acura fuel in
is $3.39.
